This is a new occasional series that takes its basis and some of its storyline from the cancelled Tokyopop Manga, Yubisaki Milk Tea by Tomochika Miyano. It's a great series and well worth looking out, it's a mystery why they cancelled it. For my version I've changed the setting from Japan to England and of course the names, then I've added some new characters and situations to produce Jamie and the Peach . The original series was cancelled before completion but due to popular demand has been reinstated.!

Jamie and the Peach 19

The food lived up to every expectation, I could get used to eating at the Brownlea's. The salmon bake came with new potatoes and buttered carrots then as if that wasn't enough we finished off with baked Alaska – hmm yum! Of course we got to do the washing up - well the fill and turn on at any rate.

"So what are you girls up to?"

"Pea has a date tomorrow so we're deciding on a look."

"So you aren't going tramping around the countryside?"

"Well duh! I said we were sorry." Karen mentioned.

"Hmm."

"Come on Pea, times a wasting."

I shrugged and followed Karen through to her room.

"Nothing too outrageous please."

"As if!"

"Or revealing."

"Don't worry, I've got an idea already but it's a pity Jamie has to go to school tomorrow."

"Don't even think about it!"

The thought that it had even crossed her mind sent shivers through me, now I know I do a pretty good girl act but there is no way that I'd really want to expose myself in that way, really, honest!

What ensued was actually quite tame compared to some of my recent experiences, in fact I only tried on two outfits, a dress that really didn't work on my frame and the top and skirt that we settled on. To be honest it wasn't really that different to what I brought myself but according to K it was more dressy.

"Well that was easy." I sighed.

"Its a pity you don't have pierced ears."

Where'd that come from?

"Ut uh."

"Why not? Most girls do you know."

"Well this girl doesn't."

"Lots of boys do too."

"Those creepy big rhinestones, urgh!"

"You wouldn't have to wear them."

"I'm not wearing any, end of story!"

"I could do it for you. I've got some really cool dangles that go with that top."

"No."

"Why not?" she persisted.

Why not indeed. After all I'm sat here in my 'girlfriends' bedroom dressed and appearing as a girl who is at least attractive enough to be propositioned a boy and I'm kicking up a fuss about piercing my ears.

"You could let them heal up afterwards." Karen suggested.

"But..."

"You'd look a real Vixen."

"You think?"

"Here look." she stood behind me and held something by my ear.

Looking in the mirror I could see what she meant.

"Hang on, aren't I trying to get rid of him, not encourage the idiot."

"Doesn't mean you can't look like a Fox."

I'm sure there's logic in there somewhere.

"So what do you reckon about the class rep thing?" I changed the subject.

"Its a bit lame, it's not like there's really anything it counts for."

"It'd look good on a resume I guess."

"You thinking of running?"

"Not really but like if we don't elect someone the year head will pick somebody."

“That does kinda suck, you sure about the earrings?”

When I left just after nine – Mrs Brownlea gave me a lift again, I had my outfit of borrowed togs stowed safely in my schoolbag – well Pea's actually, and once again she dropped me off at the end of ‘my' road.

“Night Karen, Mrs B.”

“Night Poppy.”

“See you tomorrow Pea.”

“Bye-ee.”

I waved and headed towards the ‘Smith' household.

"Jamie? Can I speak to you for a minute?"

"Sure, what's up?"

I diverted my route to head into the kitchen.

"Work called."

"Oh." my heart sank. Its not like it was unexpected or anything but it didn't stop it being unwelcome. We both knew what the call meant.

"When?"

"Monday."

Last time it was about an hour and I didn't even get to say goodbye in person.

"I wish you didn't have to go, you've only been here a week." my eyes started to tear up.

"Come here."

She opened her arms and I stepped into her embrace as I started to sniff.

"Why?"

"Its part of the job, you know that."

"It still hurts."

"Tell you what, we'll do something special on Saturday."

"'Kay."

I didn't let go for long minutes.

“What's with that stupid grin?”

“Eh?”

“Wake up Jonno, Melinda is naked behind you.”

“Great.”

Jeez he's well out of it this morning.

“Get a grip, what's up with you?”

“I'm finally taking Peaches out.”

“And?”

“Just coz you and Karen are an item, for some of us it's a bit special.

Geez.

“You aren't going until tonight.”

“I know, I wonder what she'll wear?”

“Probably a corset and suspenders.”

We've talked about our fantasy women many times so I know what pushes his buttons.

“Nah, she's too classy for that kind of look.”

“If you say so.”

“Well she is, I mean you only have to look at her.”

I rolled my eyes, “whatever.”

“What do you reckon, flowers or chocolates?”

“For?”

“Don't you give Karen stuff?”

“Not usually.” I admitted.

“Well I want to do it right, maybe both.”

“I'm sure anything will be great.”

“Do you really think so?”

He really has got it bad.

“I'm sure.”

“Bugger, what should I wear?”

“How should I know?”

“Well what do you wear when you go out with Kaz?”

You really don't want to know Jonno, you really don't want to know.

“Like normal stuff.”

“Jeans?”

“Depends where your going, its not making much effort is it, you always wear jeans.”

“I guess, I guess I can wear my Chino's.”

Well I don't want to be shown up at the restaurant do I?

“Sounds good.”

“It's a shame Kazza couldn't make it.”

“Well its been planned for weeks.” I fibbed, “Anyway we'd be like gooseberry's or something.”

“I hope she likes the restaurant, it's costing an arm and a leg.”

Don't blame me, it wasn't my idea.

“Maybe I'll have to take Karen sometime.”

“Yeah, do you think I should get a taxi to take her home?”

“How should I know? Why don't you play it by ear, she might have made her own arrangements.”

“I don't know where she lives, it could cost a fortune if it's out of town.”

“She's making her own way to town right?”

“Uh huh.”

“So she must have some kind of plan to get home.”

“Suppose so.”

To be honest I haven't got that far ahead, maybe I could get Mum to pick me up?

The bell for first period halted any further conversation on the subject although I'm sure we were both still thinking about tonight's planned liaison.
